James E. Hudson, age 72, of 8077 Co 416 J Road in Flat Rock, passed away Tuesday morning, October 31, 2017 at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers. He was born on December 28, 1944 in Escanaba, the son of Ira and Gladys (Clairmont) Hudson. James worked as a carpenter and mason for several years until his retirement. He loved life and lived it to its fullest. James enjoyed the outdoors – especially hunting, spending time with his family and friends, singing in church, and enjoyed going to the local nursing homes where he’d sing for the residents. He was a member of the Watson Bible Chapel.

James E. Hudson is survived by daughters, Billie Jo (Jeff) Rynesh of Wilson, and Robin (Bill) Maki of Eben Junction; grandchildren, Charles (Amber Grinquist) Liikala, Kyle (Maiah) Maki, Tasha (Jerico) Grimm, Brittany Maki, Erik Rynesh, Trevor Maki, Cody (Taylor) Maki, and Jayden Rynesh; great-grandchildren, John Liikala, and Wyatt Grimm; brothers, John (Carol) Hudson, Wade (Lynae) Hudson, Joe (Nancy) Hudson, Milton (Mary Lou) Hudson, David (Patty) Hudson, and Peter (Jessica) Hudson; sisters, Lillian (Joe) Hurkman, Gladys Elegeert, Mary Ann Hudson, Ada DeBaker, Ruth (David) VanEkenfort, and Jean Hudson; girlfriend, Karen Webber; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

James E. Hudson was preceded in death by parents, Ira and Gladys Hudson; and brother-in-law, Tom Elegeert.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday, November 10, 2017 at the Bark River Bible Church in Bark River. Funeral services celebrating the life of James will follow at 6:00 p.m., Friday, in the Bark River Bible Church with Pastor Brad Cochrane officiating. A luncheon will be served afterward in the church fellowship hall.
