Doris M. Cmejla, age 90, of Bark River, passed away Sunday evening, October 29, 2017 at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers. She was born on January 4, 1927 in Escanaba, the daughter of Martin and Edna (Malush) Schrader. Doris grew up in Escanaba and was a member of the Escanaba High School Graduating Class of 1944. Following graduation, she moved to Detroit where she was employed in a potato chip factory. The former Doris Schrader married Russell Cmejla on June 15, 1946 in Detroit and he preceded her in death on July 16, 1987. Together, the couple shared 41 years of marriage and raised four children. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Perronville, and Doris went to work at Robinson’s Furniture Factory. In her later years after the death of her husband, she enjoyed wintering in Englewood, FL. To meet new people, Doris was involved with square and line dancing, and also was part of a women’s chorus. She was a very loving, caring, and outgoing woman who will be missed dearly.

Doris M. Cmejla is survived by 3 children, David (Judy) Cmejla of Bark River, Wayne (Donna) Cmejla of Rochester, NH, and Laurel (Mike) Stephens of Bark River; son-in-law, Steve Holmi of Lansing, MI; 8 grandchildren, Reid Cmejla, Brad Cmejla, Chad Cmejla, Rick Cmejla, Scott Cmejla, Casey Cmejla, Emma Holmi, and Hanna Holmi; 22 great-grandchildren; brother, Daniel Schrader of Detroit; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Doris was preceded in death by daughter, Myra Holmi; grandson, Mark Cmejla; and brother, Donald Schrader.

A Celebration of Life in honor of Doris will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the home of David and Judy Cmejla, located on North Road in Bark River. A meal will also be served.
