Donald C. Nyquist, age 90, of 905 6th Ave. S. in Escanaba, passed away Friday morning, December 1, 2017 at Christian Park Village in Escanaba. He was born on May 8, 1927 in Escanaba, the son of John and Gertrude (Johnson) Nyquist. Don grew up in Escanaba and graduated from Escanaba High School in 1945. Two days before his graduation, he was drafted into the U.S. Navy. During his tour of duty, he served in Pearl Harbor. After returning home, he married the former Fay D. Gaufin on May 8, 1947. Together, the couple shared 70 years of marriage and raised three sons. Throughout his working career, Don was employed at OK Auto Parts for many years until his retirement in 1997. He was a member of the Golden K Kiwanis Club and Bethany Lutheran Church of Escanaba. Don was very active in the church dartball league, church council, and taught Sunday school for several years. He lived a long and wonderful life full of love and laughter.

Donald C. Nyquist is survived by wife, Fay of Escanaba; two sons, Don (Kathie) Nyquist of Ford River, and John (Kathy) Nyquist of Akron, NY; daughter-in-law, Kerry Nyquist of Marquette, MI; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by one son, Paul; 3 sisters; and 3 brothers.

Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., Sunday, December 10, 2017 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Donald will follow at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Erik Heskin officiating. A luncheon will be served afterward in the Anderson Funeral Home Fellowship Area. Burial will take place in Lakeview Cemetery.
